Tabby & Josh's Engagement Session | Lynchburg Wedding Photographers at Randolph College

I can't believe these two are getting married this year! Jonathan and I have had the honor of watching their love grow from the sidelines. We were there at Tabby's 16th birthday party, when Josh showed up as "just a friend" and it was all too obvious from the way he looked at her that he wanted to be more than just friends. We were there when they went to prom together. We were there a few days after they decided to go on a missions trip to Africa together, which would be where Josh would ask her to marry him.

And now here we are - 4 months before the wedding, taking their first photos together as Tabby & Josh. Not "Ryan and Alison's daughter, and there's her boyfriend," but as a love story entirely their own!

They met at Gretna in 8th grade, but didn't really know either one existed. They rode the same bus, but Tabby always had her nose in a book. It wasn't until the next year at the schools field day, that Tabby started picking on him and threw a bottle of water over his head. Fast forward to September 12th, Josh finally got the courage to ask her to be his girlfriend. Two days later, he had to ask permission from her dad. Who said, "I may not have guns, but plenty of other people in this church do." Then walked up and preached his sermon.

This whimsical tree felt perfect for their love story. You can almost hear the 8th grade kids sing, "Josh and Tabby sitting in a tree..."

Fast forward, now they're both in college! This last summer they went on a missions trip to South Africa. What Tabby didn't know was that she was going as a girlfriend, but will come back as a fiance'!

Josh wasn't able to bring her diamond ring with him, so he sent some of his friends out with the mission to buy a temporary ring. After a lot of struggle to find the perfect one, they finally brought back a silver infinity ring that will fit her finger just right. They got back JUST in time for them to go out to a fancy dinner.

Down on one knee, Josh asked Tabby to marry him along with to make memories together and have adventures together. Tabby was absolutely blown away surprised! She had no idea he was going to purpose in Africa. In her mind she was going to have to have a talk with him once they were back in the states to get his butt moving. The surprise didn't stop there, once back in the states, he gave her the real engagement ring!

"Make memories and have adventures."

These were the words that would define their relationship from the beginning. We definitely made memories during this session, and we're so looking forward to see where their life together takes them!

Stay tuned for their beautiful June wedding!
