Andrew & Jane's Rustic Orchard Wedding, Pt. I: Getting Ready | Lynchburg Wedding Photographers at the Historic Round Barn in Gettysburg, PA
If you have been following us for a while, you might remember that Andrew and Jane were the winners of our 2017 Wedding Giveaway Contest. After a lot of applicants and a very difficult selection process, we chose this couple and kept in close contact with them all the way through the months leading up to their wedding. Even though we hadn't met yet, we had an instant connection. We couldn't believe it when they found out that their original venue wasn't able to host their wedding anymore. We prayed for them to find the perfect place and believed that there was something better coming in store for them.
And it was. This cozy apple orchard, nestled in the mountains of Pennsylvania, was perfect for them. Normally during the week, it's a bustling workplace in the peak of apple season. But on this Monday morning, all was quiet and the cold night's dew lay undisturbed on the apples. The historic Round Barn was filled with string lights above banquet tables and tulle draped through the rafters.
15 minutes away in the heart of Gettysburg, Jane and her girls were getting ready in a townhouse. A letter from Andrew was delivered to her, along with a beautiful jewelry box with new earrings inside. Her mother helped her put on her dress, then her girls surrounded her and fervently prayed over her.
Years of anticipation, of loyalty and the strain of time apart, were finally coming to an end. Jane was radiant and, back at the orchard, Andrew couldn't stop fidgeting. His letter from Jane arrived and he choked back tears as he read it. Her gift to him was a wristwatch. [J. - I'm a sucker for a great watch!]
With the ceremony only minutes away and guests being shuttled up the hillside to the ceremony site, Andrew and Jane made time for a First Look, No Peak. They stood on opposite sides of the massive barn door and tightly clenched hands as the emotions washed over them at first touch. Andrew prayed for them before they separated one last time to go up to the ceremony site... coming next.
