This wedding was everything that’s beautiful about the midwest where I grew up. The June weather, the as-far-as-the-eye-can-see cornfields, the killer sunsets, the dry sarcastic humor - but most of all, the love and devotion of family. Matthew and Heather’s wedding was packed with those who love them dearly. Heather’s family surrounded her as she prepared for the day. Matthew’s brothers stood beside him and his dad preformed the service. And this doesn’t even begin to cover everyone else who came together to create the aesthetic of their day.

It all started with a story that was told often on their day. After meeting online, they made plans to go to a game together. While there, they got on an elevator with a bunch of other people - and the elevator got stuck. After several hours of being trapped, rescue teams were able to cut open the elevator and pull people out. But during the rescue they got separated. It was when Matthew found her and spent time to help her calm down after the terrifying experience that she realized she wanted to marry him.

And so they did. After their ceremony, a storm blew over the plains as we made our way to Sleepy Creek Vineyard for the reception. Storm clouds continued to rush across the horizon, but we just got to enjoy the most jaw-dropping sunset! There was a delicious dinner, multiple tables filled with candy, and a yummy cake and cupcakes. And to end the night, they literally hugged every. single. guest who was there to celebrate with them. <3

Matthew and Heather, we bless you guys with a beautiful and shalom-filled marriage! We pray that whenever life’s "elevators" occur, that you will handle it just as well as you did the first time, with the same amount of courage and care.
