Lynchburg, VA | Lexi & Matt's Engagement
Lexi and Matt's love story starts in the paint department at Lowe's. That's where she worked and that's the route he took every day for any possible reason. Coworkers started betting on how many times he would pass Lexi's counter every day. He would offer to take out the trash and only take one little garbage bag at a time.
But then she was gone one weekend. He thought she was just out sick, but then she was gone the next weekend too. He thought she had quit. The next weekend she came back and said that she had been at the World Cup in Brazil. He thought she was joking. She wasn't. She had been on a missions trip, sharing the gospel with thousands of football fans outside the stadium. He couldn't believe how awesome this girl was. He kept trying to get her to go out with him, but she was always busy. Finally he talked her into going to eat at Cookout, a southeast restaurant chain that specializes in burgers and milkshakes [for those of us from the midwest, we call it a counterfeit Steak & Shake, bwahaha!]. He got dressed up for the occasion, but when he went to pick her up she was just wearing shorts and a tshirt. She thought he was taking her to an actual cookout. With his friends. Not on a date. Oops.
On their fourth date, he took her out to the river walk downtown. It was sunset, they were alone, and it was the perfect moment for their first kiss. And he didn't. He didn't even come close. He was kicking himself after that night, but I think he more than made up for it with all the kissing on this night at the same spot!
They knew they had found the One after about 6 months together. He went ring shopping all over the city, but he couldn't find the right one. Then one day, he got a spam email about an estate sale at a local jeweler. He decided to sign up to attend. He saw many rings, but not the right one. Finally he explained to the lady what he was looking for. She stopped him and went in the back, then returned with a ring. It was a new acquisition, so new that it hadn't even been processed or photographed yet. And it was absolutely perfect.
Three months passed. Matt showed the ring to everyone he knew, but he didn't propose. He had a plan. Exactly 1 year before, they had hiked Natural Bridge. On that day they were both sick, especially Lexi, but nothing was going to stop Matt. They drove up to Natural Bridge and he dragged her up to the lookout, wheezing and coughing and freezing cold. She knew exactly what was happening. He pulled out a tripod to "take some pictures" and then told her to look the other way. When she turned around, he was kneeling with the ring in hand.
The rest is history. When they announced their engagement on Facebook, they got so many notifications that the app crashed both their phones. When a thousand people are this excited for your wedding, you must be doing something right together. Matt said his favorite thing about Lexi is her spontaneity. Lexi's favorite thing about him is his sense of humor (and that she can spot every move he makes from a mile away!). You can tell from these images how much joy they bring each other. They are an AWESOME couple and we're so excited for their wedding this autumn!
We couldn't help ourselves. We love you Lexi. ;D
