Lynchburg, VA | Laura & Ludo's Wedding at Randolph College
Laura and Ludo hadn't seen each other all day. Ludo was in an old classroom on the third floor of the Smith Hall, putting his suit on, while Laura was hidden away on the second floor doing her hair and makeup. Ludo could barely stand still for portraits, he was so anxious to get outside and see his bride. This was the moment they had looked forward to most on their wedding day. As she snuck up on him from behind, he gathered himself shakily, and it was all she could do to keep from being overcome with emotion in the moment.
We immediately stole away for a while to take photos and give them a chance to relax together before the ceremony. Their energy was powerful and it would have been easy to lose track of time photographing their love. But Ludo's family from Belgium was arriving and we had to get back in time for the ceremony!
The ceremony was in a beautiful hall, filled with natural light and elegant details. As 40 dearly loved friends and family from across the country and around the world took their seats, Laura and Ludo waited in the hall for their signal to enter. They whispered together and laughed, she fidgeted and wiggled and sighed, he squeezed her hands and kissed her on the forehead to calm her.
And then it was time. The ceremony was, like every other detail of their day, elegantly simple, but heavy with the weight of love. Wine and appetizers were immediately served, followed by a delicious dinner, and we heard many stories about this couple's enormous impact on those around them - both on campus where Ludo works now, and at Amazement Square where Laura works. Such an intimate wedding gives more opportunity to focus on the bride and groom and just celebrate them, and they deserved every bit of it. Congratulations, guys. We're so happy for you!
