We barricaded ourselves into an upstairs room with Josh and Avery immediately after the ceremony. We threw open all the windows and let the cool air wash over them. They needed to breathe a minute before they went back down to enjoy their guests' company. It was in this room that she called him her husband, and he called her his wife, for the very first time.

Later that evening, after bridal party photos and family portraits were done, we went on a stroll together through the gardens. Not in a hurry to get anywhere, just enjoying the natural beauty that drew Josh and Avery to choose this place.

Finally, after the bouquet was tossed and the dance floor was worn down, the clouds peeled back and the heavens burst into color. We took them back out to their ceremony location to get some ahhh-mazing sunset portraits underneath the 10-foot-tall cross that Josh built himself and surprised Avery with. I don't think we could have picked a better ending to their day - a day that was filled with graciousness in the midst of unexpected difficulties, God-honoring in every moment, and wholly devoted to each other at every glance.
