Derrick & Leah's Elegant Waterfront Wedding, Pt. I: Getting Ready | Lynchburg Wedding Photographers at Silver Swan Bayside, Maryland

Their wedding day started in the early morning dew on Kent Island, Maryland. They had rented two AirBnB's on opposite sides of the island - Leah and her ladies in a beautiful old cabin tucked away through the woods, and Derrick and his guys in an upstairs apartment overlooking an inlet. She sat in the window light at the kitchen table, having her hair and makeup done, while the girls rushed from room to room looking for shoes and curling irons. Her grandma watched from the corner with her own camera in hand, snapping photos and practically bursting with excitement.

On the other side of the island, the guys  made their cots and got dressed early. Derrick took time to teach the guys how to fold their pocket squares before he finished getting dressed himself. Their shoes were commonly referred to as "the game-changers," and Derrick looked so sharp that one of the guys started blasting the theme song for James Bond on his phone as Derrick was putting his jacket on. 

The guys had cabin fever, so we went down to the waterfront and chilled on the dock for a few minutes before it was time to leave for the venue. The girls collected their gorgeous bouquets and stepped outside the cabin for their portraits together. And then it was time. Silver Swan Bayside was waiting. Two caravans of cars started winding their way to the south tip of the island.
