Corbin & Belen's Engagement Session, Pt. II: The Lake | Virginia Wedding Photographers at Smith Mountain Lake
We try to find unique new places to explore with our couples, and for Corbin & Belen's session we went looking for Turtle Island in the Smith Mountain Lake State Park. It's a small island connected to the mainland by a little bridge. Smith Mountain Lake is a manmade lake, so the dry land we see now is just the tops of the flooded mountains. There's little beaches scattered around the lake, but there's also cool rock outcrops and really steep drop-offs into the dark waters hundreds of feet below.
We met at the state park early and spent the morning exploring and talking about life. We got lost once or twice. But it was so cool seeing two such different people from opposite sides of the world fall in love, and now still getting to know more about each other, their families, their childhood experiences. Belen is excited to take Corbin back home to Bolivia next year for their extra-long, delayed honeymoon!
But first, they need to get married. Stay tuned for their intimate, elopement-style wedding at a country club later this summer!
