As the sun began to dip behind the hills behind them, Pastor Brent prayed over Brent and Rose. And while they stood at the front of the ceremony and exchanged vows, their wedding bands were being passed slowly from person to person at the back of the crowd. Each wedding guests would pause, reflect, and say a prayer or blessing over Brent and Rose’s marriage before handing the ring to the next guest. They moved row by row, finally from each bridesmaid and groomsmen, until finally making their way to Brent and Rose - the metal now warmed by the touch of more than a hundred sets of caring hands.
For Brent and Rose, their wedding guests were much more than passive participants. They weren’t just there for the celebration (which came later, and it was AWESOME). It was their shoulders Brent and Rose’s marriage stands on; their wisdom that they follow; their encouragement and accountability that they need for the journey ahead.
And then there was the celebration! Banquet tables stretched from one end of the sprawling Southern Granary warehouse to the other. Rose incorporated lots of greenery, white roses and baby’s breath that beautifully accented the old steel trusses and polished concrete floors. It was a beautiful fun night!
