Terri & David's Wedding at Old Pate Chapel | Lynchburg Wedding Photographers

We can't tell you how excited we were to start the 2017 wedding season, and Terri & David's wedding was such a great beginning! It was a cool spring day at Old Pate Chapel but the sun kept peeking through the clouds and the stormy wind gave such life and movement to Terri's beautiful dress from Celebration Bridal. Terri's grandmother passed away very unexpectedly when she was a child, but she was honored well at her granddaughter's wedding - Terri had a tiny portrait of her hanging on her bouquet, and wore her amazing crushed diamond ring on her left hand. And her engagement ring was passed down to her by David's grandmother!

Terri chose to do a very private First Look with her father and her 2-year-old son Elliott. The awestruck look on Elliott's face, and the tears welling up in her father's eyes, were such a special moment. As they took a few quiet minutes together, on the other side of the chapel David was more than ready to see his bride for the first time.

Terri's grandfather officiated the ceremony, and he seemed thrilled at his granddaughter's choice of husband - and was certain that her grandmother would have approved too. After a short ceremony, we snuck upstairs and took a few minutes for Terri and David to breathe and relax together before the reception.

Their reception was so chill and fun! Sometimes simple is better. They had a build-your-own taco bar provided by Charley's and an open wine and beer bar. SO great! DJ Rick kept the dance floor full and it was a blast for us to photograph, but it was also evident to us that the guests were loving it too. And it's the sign of a selfless, attentive couple when they take such good care of their guests.

There was one moment during the reception that was just so beautiful, I had to go outside to pull myself together. It was during the father-daughter dance. It was near the end of the song and her dad tucked his face down into her hair and he didn't care about the music anymore, he just needed to hold his baby girl.

As they turned, I saw Terri's face buried on his chest. And then she looked over at me for half a second - and there was a single tear rolling down her cheek.

Moments like this is why we do what we do. There are seconds, literally a second, in our life that will never, ever happen again. And they deserve to be remembered until the day we die. Our children need to see them. Elliott needs to see the way his grandpa loved his mom. This is the legacy that we leave, friends. Terri & David, thank you for allowing us to help build that legacy.
