The suspense was felt weeks before the day arrived. The forecast had promised that this October day was going to be right in the middle of peak season for autumn colors. But then, a week before, a tropical storm dumped a huge amount of rain and threatened to wipe all the leaves off the trees. You wouldn't know any of this if you were driving down the winding road to the Boonsboro Country Club on the day of Lexi and Matt's wedding, though. It was the most perfect, colorful autumn day!

We were very excited about this wedding, for many reasons - one of them was because the bride knew exactly the style she wanted. There was no detail left untouched and everything flowed together perfectly, from the luxurious red florals to the rose gold accents in all the right places, down to the tiny gold bows on the back of Lexi's shoes. And the rings - oh, those rings. The engagement ring was an heirloom found at an estate sale, and Ben David made the wedding bands to match!

While the groomsmen and pastor fought the wind to build the arbor in front of the country club, Angela was putting finishing touches on the beautiful 3-tiered naked wedding cake as well as the groom's cake topped with a fondant Canon to match Matt's gear. In the ballroom, Cheryl was arranging flowers and filling tiny atriums with succulents and cranberries. 

The ladies cabin was quiet and very humid as the bridesmaids steamed out their dresses and finished doing their hair. Lexi and her mother slipped into their dresses and help each other lace up. Just around the corner in the main house, Matt made absolutely sure and he and his groomsmen were ready on time, helping with vests and ties and cleaning up the room before his bride arrived for their first look.

Matt was apprehensive about this first look. When he heard that Lexi's dress came with a veil, he wondered how long it was going to be, if he would be able to see her face underneath it, or if he could get confused and end up marrying the wrong girl. Lexi just let him wonder. When he turned and saw his beautiful bride for the first time, every doubt flew out the window and all he could do was hold her hands and stare at her.

After the ceremony, we hijacked two golf carts from the country club [If the staff is reading this, we got permission to use them. Promise.] and rocketed as fast as an electric cart can rocket out to the golf course for portraits before the sun dipped behind the mountains. These first few minutes with the bride and groom are always, always the best of the whole day, and Lexi and Matt were able to get away from the crowds for a few minutes to just soak in their first moments as husband and wife together.

The celebration was in full swing when we got back to the clubhouse, with an Italian soda bar and appetizers provided by the country club, followed by a wonderful dinner, cutting the cake, dancing, and a wild send-off using sachets of flower petals coordinated to Lexi's bouquet (it was all connected, seriously). Lexi and Matt, thank you so much for allowing us to be part of your lovely wedding. It was on point. And you're both on point too.
